Brooklyn Community Theatre would like to say a huge thank you to our terrific audience who came to see our performance of "That's the Spirit!" by Tim Kelly. Despite the drizzle around 500 people came to Rest Park, Brooklyn on Saturday 15 November 2008 to enjoy a fantastic night of family entertainment under the stars. The play, a murder-mystery-comedy, delivered plenty of chuckles and chills... the atmosphere was electric!!
Among our audience were Judy Hopwood MP, Member for Hornsby and Nick Berman, Mayor of Hornsby Shire:
"With huge anticipation I settled into a deck chair on the grassy slope to watch what I was very much looking forward to - 'That's the Spirit!'. The Brooklyn Community Theatre is to be congratulated on a totally wonderful production - I was immersed in the story with the very talented actors and the weather had no impact on my overall enjoyment at all. The setting is amazing and the experience not to be missed! To have such a fantastic opportunity out in the open air in a natural amphitheatre encapsulates what Brooklyn is all about - FULL of spirit!"
Judy Hopwood MP, Member for Hornsby
"A great night out for the family and an asset to the shire's performing arts - It was great to see a community pull together to perform a family friendly event. The standard of the acting, costumes and sets was of the highest level and a credit to all involved - I look forward to future perfomances."
Nick Berman, Mayor of Hornsby Shire
Theatre in the Park would not be possible without our generous sponsors who are listed on our Sponsors page. We would like to thank them again for their support which allows us to provide this wonderful event to the community. Special thanks goes to Hornsby Shire Council, Fenwicks Marina, Luxury Afloat and Don Thompson.
So many people give so much of their time and energy to the production, both on stage and behind the scenes. A huge shout-out to our crew - Dave Mitchell, Lara Tattersall, Steve Jones, Peter Mudie, Brett Hughes, Catherine Pigneguy, Ruth Steel, Robyn Steiner, Paul Mares, Robert Williams and Paul Surrest - to everyone that helped with the stage construction (and destruction) and to everyone that contributed in so many different ways to making this such a fantastic event: Bob Wilson, Brett Steele, Darryl Manning, Dave (you know who you are), Dave Broome, Dave Penno, Hawkesbury River Real Estate, Matt Glendenning, Mooney Mooney Workers Club, the Mudie family, Noel Castley, Phil Butterworth, Suellen Warton, Sandra and Anthony Dimmock, Roscoe Martin, Jenny Pakes and many more from this wonderful community that is Brooklyn.
Theatre in the Park is the dreamchild of our Director, Peter Hughes and our Producer, Ray Bontoft who every year give their all to bring an exceptional night of drama to our community. Without their amazing creative energy there would be no Theatre in the Park... thank you for this wonderful gift Pedro and Ray.
Last, but not least, the stars of the show, our fabulous cast who took the wonderful journey that is Theatre in the Park and gave us a night to remember. Give yourselves a huge round of applause guys, go on, you deserve it... .
